Gloria Dei is a vibrant, friendly congregation located in north Garland, a suburb of Dallas, Texas.  In addition to north Garland, Gloria Dei serves the neighboring communities of Richardson, Sachse, Murphy, Wylie and Rowlett.

Beside participating in church-wide programs, this group of believers has a heart for sharing God's love through service to its surrounding community and through its love of music.  We would love for you to stop by and see if Gloria Dei would be a good fit as your church home.

Come into the World of the Rainforest

 

Vacation Bible School, Tuesdays in July, 6:00 - 9:00 p.m.

 

Please join us Tuesday evenings in July as Vacation Bible School journeys into the Rainforest.  Kids from pre-K to 5th grade will participate in crafts, games, music, snacks and a science lesson, all geared to learning more about our world in the rainforest.  Youth (6-12th grade) are asked to come and help with the activities.  Adults can participate in an adult Catechism Class led by Pastor Hubbard.

  

Someone else will cook the main course, so join us for great dinners at 6 p.m.  Each week, a different meal will be offered, including spaghetti, chicken enchiladas, fried chicken, tacos and sandwiches.  You can sign up to help with desserts and clean up.

Women to Dine at Love and War in Texas Restaurant

The Women of Gloria Dei will gather together for dinner at Love and War in Texas Restaurant, located in Plano on the north side of Plano Parkway, just east of the Plano Parkway/Central Expressway intersection.  Please let Julie Pancake know if you can join this group for fun and fellowship, so she can include you in the reservation.

 

  

  

Peace One Penny at a Time

 

Your pennies can make a difference!  

 

Pennies for Peace is a fundraising activity for the month of July, benefiting the Central Asia Institute, which primarily builds schools for girls in the rural areas of Pakistan and Afghanistan.  To date, the organization has built more than 60 schools, 14 women's vocational centers and more than 24 potable water projects.   Just $2 a day pays a teacher's salary.  You can donate your small change in the collection jar in the Narthex or you can also put contributions in the offering plate, marked "Pennies for Peace."   This fundraiser is in support of one of our recently adopted Congregational Goals:  "To serve the greater world in the tradition of prophets and deacons through minitries of advocacy and service to all children of God, especially the impoverished, the prisoner, and those limited in mind and body." 

 

 

 

Did You Know?

 

Did you know Gloria Dei has a paper recycle program?   

  

You can bring your paper for recycling on Sunday mornings (or anytime you come up to church!) and place it in the large recycle bin in the parking lot.  Be on the look-out for special containers in the church for recycling paper as well. 

  

This project is in support of one of the recently adopted tactical goals to explore social issues, and the members of Gloria Dei chose to focus on the environment.  Check out the fun facts in the bulletin each week on how your doing one small thing can save land, trees and space in the landfills and protect our environment for generations to come.
