Has anyone ever done something for you that they really didn’t have to do? Maybe it was one of those unexpected acts of kindness that caused you to be very grateful.
Jesus reminds us in today’s text that we need to do what we are called to do. Our actions matter. Of course, we know that actions that are mean, violent or hurtful can cause great pain to others. These actions are contrary to who we are called to be as Christians.
Our Phillipians text reminds us that we are called to a whole different standard. A standard not to be “do-gooders” but a call to speak and act against injustice, violence and pain in the world. Jesus asks us to go into the “vineyard” and make a difference in people’s lives.
I invite you to think a little deeper about this by watching the sermon on YouTube or listening on Spotify (please subscribe).
