Have you ever had a “brush with fame?” I’m talking about one of those moments when you get close to or meet a celebrity. I think most people have had an experience like this and it’s fun to sit around with friends and tell the stories. We are somewhat obsessed with movie stars and musicians who are famous. I remember shaking Arnold Schwarzenegger when I was a kid and I was star struck.
In Sunday’s text, Jesus is becoming famous. I know, “famous” is typically not the word we use to describe Jesus. We certainly don’t want to compare Jesus with a celebrity. But after Jesus’ teaching and calling out an evil spirit in a man in the synagogue, the news goes viral.
I wonder what it takes for the good news of Jesus to spread like that today? Has God done something miraculous for you? If so, did you tell others? I know that I’m excited when I see God show up and what to share the experience with others.
