What does investing in your neighbor look like? This week we have another challenging parable from Jesus. You can read it here. We see a master who gives his servants an enormous amount of money and asks them to take care of it when he’s gone (a “talent” is worth 20 years of labor). Two of the servants invest wisely and their money comes back two-fold. The third servant buries the talent therefore getting nothing in return.
Well, let’s just say that the master was very disappointed in the servant who buried his talent. This parable is about more than how we invest our money. It is about how we have been given “superabundance” by God through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. God asks us to share that abundance with our neighbor, in a sense, investing in our neighbor.
How do you invest what God has given you in others? You are invited to watch or listen to the sermon on YouTube and Spotify.
