What are the things that change lives? When I was 25 I traveled to India and Nepal for five months with a team of five young adults sharing the gospel through music, puppetry, skits and word. It was an amazing experience and it was one of those things that change lives.
It was an experience like no other. One day we visited a leper colony and did a program in a thatch roofed, dirt floor little chapel. As we were singing a song of praise I looked down and saw a woman with the effects from leprosy (nubbed fingers, nose almost gone). I looked into her eyes and I’ve never seen joy like that before. I saw Christ in her eyes. It was life changing.
In today’s gospel, Jesus calls us to look into the eyes of the “least of these” and that is where we will see Jesus himself. Where do you see people who are vulnerable? Where do you see people who are hungry, thirsty, naked, sick or in prison? Jesus reminds us that it is there that we will meet him.
I invite you to listen to this sermon on YouTube or Spotify and wonder with me about this question.
