Wedding woes from the Parable of the Wedding Banquet

This week’s parable is a little hard to understand. What is Jesus trying to teach the scribes? What is he trying to teach us? I’m sure you have heard of people having wedding woes, but these wedding woes are pretty serious.
The king is furious that people would not attend his son’s wedding. After all, he’s pulled out all the stops for the guests. But the invitees are not into it. They decide they have better things to do. But the king is determined to fill the wedding. He sends out his servants to gather people from the streets, the good and the bad.
Might we be like the original invitees sometimes? Do we get complacent about joining God in places where the love of God needs to be shared? God has invited and called us through the sacrifice of his son and asks us to respond by loving our neighbor.
Will we join God in fighting against injustice? Will we stand up against the violence in our communities against the marginalized?
