You have been appointed. That’s what Jesus said. How do you feel about that?
That’s right. In our gospel reading this week Jesus tells the disciples, “I have appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that will last.” Jesus is reminding them that he has given them everything they need, including unique gifts that they can share with others. They can love and serve their neighbor in all kinds of ways.
You and me have also been given unique gifts to share with our neighbor. When we find that place we can serve where are best gifts can be used we can find true meaning. This is also called “vocation.” Our vocation may be our career but it may not. What is your vocation? Or in the words of Frederick Buechner, “The place God calls you to is the place where your deep gladness and the world’s deep hunger meet.”
Find your vocation and you will find true joy. You can listen to the whole message on YouTube.
